Objective – To evaluate the zirconia’s surface treated with oxide silica and subsequent irradiation with different intensities of energy laser. One possibility of conditioning or alteration of the ceramic surface is the use of high power lasers. Several studies have evaluated the effectiveness of this type of laser in dentistry, especially on the tooth surface, however, there are few reports of an association of laserwith zirconia ceramic (Y-TZP). Methods – It was used 08 ceramic plates Cercon Smart (DeguDent, Hanau, Germany), measuring5x3x0.75mm, embedded in acrylic resin, which were divided into groups according to the proposed treatment with silica coating (Rocatec Soft) and / or Laser Er: YAG (λ= 2.940nm, 200mJ, 400mJ and 500mJ). The specimens were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy and measurement of the amount of silica impregnated. Results – The surface of Y-ZTP had morphological alterations with the Erbium laser and the amount of silica impregnated was proportional to the energy of the Er: YAG laser used, specimes irradiated with a dose of 500mJ presented 91,4%% more silica than the specimes with only treatment sílica coating. Conclusion – The laser irradiation with Er: YAG after silica coating provides greater attachment to the silica oxide surface of zirconia.
