Objective – To analyze the instrument used in the State of Mato Grosso do Sul establishing monthly indicators for the Family Health Units (USF). Methods – This is a documentary study with a quantitative approach, conducted in the city of Aquidauna, MS in the years 2007 to 2012. The Act provides at least 10 home visits, 26 completed treatment and 1 educational activity for dental services. Results – The results show that an increase of seven to fifteen USF. The city reached 88% in home visits, 66% in the supplemented treatments and 130% in educational activities. As for the average number of shares per unit, it was found that in relation to educational activities most teams were able to reach the goal, however, home visits, found that 57% achieved the indicator in 2007 and 40% in 2012. Referring the treatments completed, neither reached the target in 2008 and 14% in 2011. Conclusions – We conclude that the instrument is an effective tool in the institutional evaluation process, the indicator of educational activity was achieved by most teams, however, visits home and completed treatments is still a major challenge to be faced to improve the solving of the dental service in the Unified Health System.
