Introduction – Believing that the quality of life (QV) either modified result of the intestinal presence of one ostomy and that this QV either more worse when if deals with an individual stomized for colorectal neoplasms, the study in question evaluated the difficulties faced for the changes in the style of life of the ostomy carriers, in result of the colorectal neoplasms or for other pathologies. Material and Methods – We analyze 59 individuals, ostomy carriers has more than two weeks, with age from 18 years, taken care of in the Nucleus of Ostomizados of the Hospital Set of Sorocaba – SP, during the months of October and November of 2006. The boarding was of quantitative character, transversal cut and retrospective aspect. The used instruments of collection had been: WHOQOL-bref, specific of QV evaluation, created for the OMS; psycho-partnerdemographic instrument of data, with intention to characterize the sample. Results – We observe that the satisfaction in the QV of the stomized individuals was not modified in result of the colorectal neoplasms. Conclusions – One concludes that the mensuration of the impact of the illness in the QV of the individuals becomes each more important time, and that the necessity of a treatment for a long period as the ostomy, exactly when it has presence of chronic illness, as the colorectal neoplasms, necessarily does not represent the end of the life of these patients.
