Objective – To evaluate the life quality of active professionals from the health sector of a teaching hospital. Methods – Observational study of traverse type. The sample was composed by 306 professionals from the health sector of a teaching hospital of Rio Grande do Sul, in the period from December 15th, 2008 to January 15th, 2009. The data was collected through questionnaire containing theWHOQOL-BREF instrument from theWorld Health Organization and other issues about demographic variables, and professional activity. For analysis of the data theWHOQOL-BREF syntax was used for the program SPSS 13.0, in which simple frequencies and bivariate analysis were proceeded through the ANOVA test. Results – Of the interviewees 86,3% were female, they were on average 33 (± 8,9) years old. The life quality was evaluated in four domains, in those the employees presented average of 69,7 (± 14,9) in the physical domain, 71,4 (± 12,4) in the psychological domain, 73,6 (± 15,8) in the social relationships domain and 54,1 (± 9,4) in the domain that refers to the environment. Conclusion – High satisfaction level was observed in all of the domains that evaluated the professionals’ life quality.
