Objectives – Isolate and identify filamentous fungi found in anatomical specimens preserved in formalin. Methods – Fungal samples were collected with the aid of swabs moistened with sterile saline, directly from the tanks containing the anatomical specimens stored in formalin 10%. The eight isolates were grown in Petri dishes containing Sabouraud Dextrose Agar and Potato Dextrose. For sample identification macroscopic and microscopic analyzes of the characteristic colonies of filamentous fungi were performed. Results – Fungi As-pergillus spp, Aureobasidium spp, Cladosporium spp and Penicillium spp in anatomical samples analyzed were isolated. Conclusion –It is recommended to students, teachers and technical personnel to protect the respiratory system with masks, as well as the mandatory use of gloves, since both fungi like formaldehyde present in the environment, are related to induce health problems in school environments.
