Introduction - Digital methods allow us to quantify data with qualitative characteristics. In Radiology, the study of structures depends of personal criteria presenting variations intra and inter-examiners. The possibility to measure anatomic structures as how cortical and medullar bones is an important factor to mineralization evaluation. Material and Methods - At the present study 30 hand and wrist radiographs from adults and 30 others from children are scanned with the aim to observe the coefficient attenuation numbers in 256 gray scale to Hamate and Sesamoid bones, making possible quantify mean values and density and standard deviation from mean values from cortical and medullar portions. Results - Results show us that there are not statistically significant differences between groups, adults and children, to Hamate bone and the presence of significant differences between values assessed on cortical and medullar portions to Hamate and Sesamoid bones. Conclusions - The Sesamoid bone must be used as golden-standard to pubertal growing spurt and bony maturation analysis.
