Resumo (EN)
The magnetic resonance computed tomography (MR) is the ideal exam to study temporomandibular disorders (TMD) although oral and facial pains have not directly related to imaging features. At the present work authors using a review of literature show the relationship between resonance magnetic images and morphological changes in hard and soft tissues to temporomandibular joint (TMJ). The literature presents discrepancies about MR findings and morphological changes to hard tissues, including sclerosis and flattening as most common degenerative processes. The use of MR as unique method to detect TMD is not enough to diagnosis, and the correlation between MR and clinical characteristics necessary.
