Objective – To evaluate the knowledge of the general public about this infection and other sexually transmitted diseases. Knowledge and prevention about the hepatitis B virus are of the utmost importance to public health, this virus has, as a characteristic, infect hepatocytes and its symptomatology compares to a simple flu in its initial phase, which leads the wearer to spread the virus. Other sexually transmitted diseases are related to this infection, as the primary means of infection is by blood. Methods – This work was conducted with 200 individuals between men and women, with respect to knowledge about hepatitis b and other sexually transmitted diseases, through questionnaires. Results – Through the search results, it was possible to identify that a notable part of the population still does not have the knowledge about hepatitis B and other STDs. There is a misconception about the forms of transmission and prevention, in addition to ignorance about the vaccine. Conclusion – The results of the study point out that the study population did not have sound knowledge and embodied on ways of transmission and prevention of hepatitis B and other sexually transmitted diseases. The State’s participation is necessary to educate the population, through public policies and information campaigns, emphasizing the importance of the vaccine and prevention methods, considering the importance of this infection to public health.
