Brazilian peripheral audio-visual production is approximately 20 years old. It was strongly influenced by television in both narrative and aesthetic terms. The purpose of this paper is to go back to the “beginnings” and discuss how workshops and collective realizations incorporated this framework. We start from the hypothesis that this reference manifests itself in two ways: a practically literal inclusion of television references, through docudrama and TV reports, and another one that tries to contemplate television and cinematic aesthetics. This debate also makes it possible to relativize the supposed hierarchies between cinema and television, in order to see these two media as contiguous instead of discrepant.
Com cerca de 20 anos de existência, a produção audiovisual periférica tem, na sua origem, uma forte influência da televisão tanto em termos narrativos quanto estéticos. O objetivo deste trabalho é voltar aos “primórdios” e debater como as oficinas e coletivos de realização incorporaram esse referencial. Partimos da hipótese de que tal referência se manifesta de duas formas: uma inclusão praticamente literal dos referenciais televisivos, por meio do docudrama e de reportagens de TV, e outra que tenta contemplar a estética televisiva e a cinematográfica. Esse debate permite também relativizar as supostas hierarquias existentes entre cinema e televisão, de modo a ver essas duas mídias como contíguas e não como discrepantes
