Conventional techniques described in the literature for the manufacture of ocular prostheses are time-consuming since they involve manual work. The use of technologies could improve this laborious process, providing better esthetic outcomes. This technique describes how to manufacture the ocular portion of an orbital prosthesis using a smartphone camera, color calibration with a tooth shade guide, and digital printing. This method allows clinicians to fabricate customized ocular prosthesis by using a photograph of the patient's eye, thus eliminating the need for hand-painting and manual work, and reducing fabrication time.

Resumo

As técnicas convencionais descritas na literatura para a fabricação de próteses oculares são demoradas, pois envolvem trabalho manual. O uso de tecnologias pode melhorar esse processo trabalhoso, proporcionando melhores resultados estéticos. Esta técnica descreve como fabricar a porção ocular de uma prótese orbital usando uma câmera de smartphone, calibração de cores com um guia de tons dentários e impressão digital. Este método permite que os clínicos fabriquem próteses oculares personalizadas usando uma fotografia do olho do paciente, eliminando assim a necessidade de pintura à mão e trabalho manual, e reduzindo o tempo de fabricação.
