Objective – To evaluate the main pathologies acquired by caregivers of patients with AD. Methods – 30 caregivers of elderly people with Alzheime’s were interviewed in all stages of the disease. Data were statistically analyzed using the GraphPad Prism statistical software V.5 (Inc., USA, 2006) program, adopting a significance level of 5% (p <0.05). The unpaired T test data was applied. Results –5 (16,66%) caregivers had psychological symptoms, 1 (3,33%) only had a physical symptom and 5 (16,66%) had both symptoms after providing care to the elderly with AD. Caregivers after a period devoting themselves to the elderly with AD had more psychological symptoms compared to caregivers who already had symptoms before. Conclusions – The contact with AD negatively influence the life of caregivers, especially the psychological aspects.
