Objective – To identify the presence of anxiety in adult women practicing physical activity and its relation to binge eating. Methods – This is a cross-sectional analytical study that was carried out in a gym located in Vila Planalto - DF, the sample had 50 women, aged between 20 and 59 years. To evaluate the presence of social anxiety, the Social Phobia Inventory (SPIN) was used. For the evaluation of binge eating, the Binge Eating Scale (BES) was used. For the evaluation of nutritional status, the calculation of body mass index (BMI) was used. Results – Participants without social anxiety (56%) were superior to the participation of participants (44%) and had their relationship with binge eating disorder. 18% of the participants presented binge eating and this was associated with high levels of body mass index (r =0.3972). Conclusion – It was observed that 18% of the participants presented Eating Disorder and it was not related to anxiety, but it was related to the increase in BMI, prompting health professionals to take a systemic view of the problem in order to carry out the treatment effectively.
