Objective – Investigate nutritional status in individuals with Down syndrome (DS). Methods – Cross-sectional study was carried out in two private schools. Nutritional status was assessed using three dietary records, weight, height, body mass index (BMI), triceps and subscapular skinfold, waist circumference. Physical activity practice was questioned. Results– Anthropometric data were obtained from 11 adolescents and 22 adults, and 10 participants reported dietary intake. Obesity prevalence for men and women were, respectively, 75% and 33% in adolescent, 50% and 67% in adults. 70% of males were diagnosed with excessive adiposity. Diet high protein and lipids, lower folate, calcium and antioxidants intake were reported. Conclusion – Although majority reported regular physical activity, high prevalence of obesity, unbalanced diet poor in antioxidants important for chronic disease prevention was observed.
