Introduction — The worry with the viability of skin flaps have been interest of many studies in plastic surgery. This subject has the objective to observe in rats the viability in skin flaps treated with direct current above electric stimulation. Methods — ln this study it was used 45 male adults rats (Wistar), divided in three groups: the Group 1 didn't receive any treatment, the Group 2 was treated with the positive pole and the group 3 with the negative pole. Results — The Group 1 presented a necrotic area of 47,87%, the Group 2 presented an area of 51,49 %, and the Group 3 an area of 39,22%. Conclusion — Although this experiment seems to show insignificant results in the utilization of direct current in skin flaps, it was observed a significant difference in necrotic areas with the treatment with different poles.
