The present study describes a case of a chemical burn victim by clandestine sanitizing product to confirm damages due from the use of these products. A descriptive and documentary study was conducted, in case reports modality, using information obtained from hospital patients records. Woman, 43, was admitted to a teaching hospital in the northwest of Paraná with burns on the inside of her left and right thigh, and in her genitalia, due to the explosion of a plastic bottle, containing hydrogen peroxide, sold clandestinely as a bleach. Curatives in the patient’s lesion, using general anesthesia, in the operating room, were made four times, and graft in her burned areas. She remained hospitalized for 25 days. The long period of hospitalization, where the patient was unable to work, and the frequent realization of chirurgical procedures, demonstrates how elevated are the social and financial costs resulting from this type of accident.
