Objective – To conduct of oral health care with dental professionals and nursing patient in the Intensive Care Unit – ICU pre-discharge rehabilitation with infection in the oral mucosa related to trauma in the dental arch caused by the laryngoscope in tracheal intubation procedure. Methods – The research is of course part of PETSAÚDE project – Education Program for Working for Health in the ICU of the Hospital and Emergency Room August 28, consisting of 40 beds. Project was approved by the Ethics Committee of UNIP posted by Platform Brazil. 60 nursing records were analyzed. Results – After analyzing the records and monitoring changes in oral hygiene care to trauma patients in the dental arch due to traumatic intubation using the laryngoscope in the process of intubation nurses must perform oral hygiene satisfactorily to prevent occasion the imbalance of bacterial flora and there is an infectious process. Of the total records analyzed 12% of intubated patients have some kind of injury in the dental arch and 50% have health problems as public presence of dental calculus and dental caries. Conclusion – According to the methodology is applied to research was possible to make quality health care for the oral cavity with the prevention of infectious processes and awareness of the ICU health team through the reaffirmation of oral hygiene technique with the Operational Standard – POP Brazilian Association of Intensive Medicine – AMIB.
