Resumo (EN)
Brazil is one of the world’s leading producers and exporters of agricultural commodities. The corn crop, in turn, has contributed to the importance of agribusiness in the national economy, since cereal is the second most cultivated and exported grain in Brazil. In the world ranking, in 2017, Brazil was the third largest producer of maize and the second largest exporter. Despite significant increases in productivity in the cultivation of grain over the last 41 years, at the time of its disposal, there are operational obstacles and a logistics that are still deficient in Brazilian ports. In this context, the objective of this work was to investigate Brazilian corn exports and analyze the capacity of the Port of Santos to dispose of maize based on a logistics terminal. For this, as a methodology, a descriptive, exploratory and quantitative approach was used, besides applying a simulation model with the purpose of dimensioning the operational capacity of the port. The observed results showed a panorama of continuous growth in the national production. In addition, the simulation pointed out eventual bottlenecks in the logistic terminal operation, in case the demand for grain exports increases.
