In industry, the need for improved productivity, which runs through several sectors of the company, is increasingly striking, but in the manufacturing sector it can be decisive for the results of an industrial organization. Productivity is directly linked to maintenance, and to reach higher levels of productivity, higher maintenance assertive level is needed. In this sense, the present research has as objective to analyze the effects of the maintenance in the productivity of the industries of Teresina (PI). The applied methodology was initially a case study in the disposable industry in the state capital, soon after, a multiple cases study with a focal group of managers of six industrial companies in Grande Teresina, as well as the bibliographical research for Theoretical background on the addressed topic. Among the results are the identification of the effects of the machines maintenance for the industrial companies and their consequences in the productivity: with the changes occurred as a result of the action research, the production went from 25 cycles per minute to 30 cycles per minute, which Represents a 20% increase in productivity.
