This dissertation had the objective of analyzing the impeachment and the legal narrative it was given by Rede Globo's television news program, Jornal Nacional, exploring what framing was applied to the reports while the impeachmentprocess occurred. The period under analysis was from April 17 to August 31, 2016. The methodology used in this paper was based on Mauro Porto (2001, 2002, 2004) and his concept of framing and its categories, and for content analysis we based our study on Laurence Bardin (2011). The political situation also served as a foundation for our analysis, which is also grounded in legal concepts and applications. The hypothesis raised initially was that Jornal Nacional privileged a narrative that endorsed the impeachment of former president Dilma Rousseff (PT- Workers Party) and disqualified her image. We were able to perceive a certain tendency in television news stories that privileged specific aspects of the narrative, favoring one of the agents and creating an unbalance in the portrayal of the factors and controversies that should all be broadcasted to viewers.
