The aim of this dissertation is to present the construction of meaning into the narrative of the main character of the movie Avatar (2009), by making a correlation with the main character of the eponymous film Pinocchio (1940) Walt Disney through intertextual processes. With the purpose of answering the question: How does the presence of syncretic elements of the main character of the eponymous film Pinocchio 1940 Walt Disney have exercised influences, and how these, have reinforced or comprised the filmic sense in creating the identity of the main character from the movie Avatar by James Cameron? Besides the studies of Professor Derrick De Kerckhove on Avatar versus Pinocchio, and Professor Dr. Anna Maria Balogh on intertextuality, other studies have been conducted by French semiotics and other shafts works that dialogue with each other to provide a better comprehension of this research.
